(Opowieści z Narnii ; 1)
Ze swojego dzieciństwa C.S. Lewis (1898-1963), profesor uniwersytetu w Cambridge, zachował w pamięci obraz fauna idącego przez zaśnieżony las z parasolem i paczkami. W 1949 r. ten wyimaginowany obraz zainspirował pisarza do napisania opowieści o czwórce dzieci przeniesionych z Anglii do innego kraju, który nazwał Narnią - świata faunów, mówiących zwierząt i mądrego Lwa. Tak powstała powieść "Lew, czarownica i stara szafa", pierwsza z siedmiotomowego cyklu "Opowieści z Narnii", o czwórce młodych ludzi pomagających uratować ten pełen uroku i niezwykłych tajemnic świat przed siłami władców zła i bezkresnej zimy.
